Terms of Service

The rules for using Our Life.

Effective February 23, 2026

These terms exist to keep the app working for everyone. They're written in plain language. By using Our Life, you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use the app.

The short version. Use Our Life to organize your family. Don't abuse it. We provide the service as-is and don't promise it's perfect. Your family's content belongs to you — we just store it. Either of us can end this relationship at any time.

1. Your agreement

By creating a family or joining one with a code, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you are using Our Life on behalf of a household that includes minors, you confirm that you are a parent or legal guardian and that you accept these terms on behalf of all members of your household.

2. The service

Our Life is a family-organization app. It provides a shared calendar, lists, meal planning, recipe storage, AI-assisted entry, real-time sync across devices, and optional share links for things like babysitter handoffs. The exact features available may change over time as we add improvements and retire experiments.

3. Your family code

When you create a family, we generate a 6-character family code. This code is the key to your data. Anyone who has it can join your family and see everything in it. Treat it like a household password. If it's been shared with someone you didn't intend, you can rotate to a new code from Settings.

We are not responsible for unauthorized access that results from a family code being shared, lost, or intercepted by you or someone in your household.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may suspend or terminate access to a family that we believe is violating these rules.

5. Your content

You own your family's content. Appointments, lists, recipes, photos, notes, and any other data your family enters into the app remain yours.

You grant us a limited license to store, transmit, process, and display your content solely to operate the service for you and your family. We do not claim ownership, we will not sell your content, and we will not use it for advertising or to train AI models. When you delete content, we delete it from active systems within a reasonable time, subject to standard backup retention.

You are responsible for the content you upload. Don't upload anything you don't have the right to use.

When you mint a share link (for example, a babysitter share or a list share), anyone with the link can see the data the link is scoped to. Treat links accordingly — don't post them anywhere you wouldn't want a stranger to see. You can rotate or revoke a link at any time from the Share Manager.

We are not responsible for misuse of links by people you have shared them with.

Some features may be offered as part of a paid plan ("Our Life Plus") in the future. If you subscribe, billing terms, renewal cadence, and refund policy will be presented at the point of purchase and will form part of these terms. App-Store and Play-Store subscriptions are governed by the platform's policies in addition to ours.

If a paid feature is discontinued, we will provide a fair pro-rata refund or credit for unused time.

8. Service availability

We do our best to keep Our Life up and fast, but we make no guarantee of uninterrupted availability. We may take parts of the service offline for maintenance, debugging, or upgrades, sometimes without prior notice.

Our Life is also designed to work offline — your family's data lives on your device and resyncs when you reconnect — so most short outages don't interrupt your day.

9. Third-party services

The app integrates with third parties — for example, Anthropic for AI features, Google Maps Platform for location and directions, ICS feeds you choose to subscribe to. Those services have their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for the conduct, content, or accuracy of third-party services. ETAs from mapping APIs, AI-generated meal suggestions, and recipe extractions are best-effort and should be used with judgment.

10. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, or uninterrupted operation.

We don't warrant that the app will be free from errors, that defects will be corrected, that data won't be lost, or that the service will meet your specific needs. You use it at your own risk.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Our Life and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, business interruption, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the service — even if we have been advised of the possibility.

Our total liability for any direct damages arising from or related to these terms or your use of the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) US $50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the smallest extent permitted by law.

12. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Our Life, its operators, employees, and contractors from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of (a) your violation of these terms, (b) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party, or (c) content you upload or share.

13. Termination

You can stop using Our Life at any time — there's nothing to cancel. To remove your data, delete the records inside the app or contact us. You can also remove all members from a family, which will mark the family doc for purge during routine cleanup.

We may suspend or terminate access to the service at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you are violating these terms, putting others at risk, or if we are required to do so by law.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The effective date at the top tells you which version is current. Material changes will be announced inside the app before they take effect. By continuing to use the app after a change, you accept the updated terms.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and, to the extent applicable, of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction whose laws grant you non-waivable rights to bring proceedings in your local courts, nothing in this section restricts those rights.
